The Warm Home Discount is there to help those who are struggling to keep up with their energy payments. Customers on the scheme will get a one-off, annual discount of £140 (inclusive of VAT) on their electricity bill. It’s a scheme, supported by the government and energy suppliers
There are 2 main groups of people who will qualify for the Warm Home Discount:
If you’re in the Core Group you don’t have to do a thing, you will receive a letter from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) confirming your status and they will arrange for the discount to be applied automatically
If you’re in the Broader Group, you’ll need to fill out this form, email it back to us, post it to us, or give us a call so we can fill it out with you over the phone. You may also need to give us written evidence of your benefits before you can get your discount.
Make sure you apply as early as you can, because the scheme may close when we’ve reached the limit of people we can help each year.
If you are in the Broader Group you need to reapply each year and you’ll also need to provide us with another declaration. If you are in the Core Group and you are still eligible, this will be automatically taken care for you via the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
You will either receive confirmation as part of completing the application or a confirmation by email or in writing.
The discount of £140 (inclusive of VAT) should be applied to your electricity account by the end of March 2021. In some instances, it is possible that it might not appear on your bill until May 2021. If you believe the discount hasn’t been applied by the time you get your May 2021 bill, then please contact us to check.
