What happens if I don't pay my bills?

If you do not pay your bill, or we still don't hear from you, we may:

  • Require the payment of a security deposit.
  • Take you to court.

If we are unable to agree a payment arrangement with you, British Gas will follow this up to disconnect your supply and you may incur further costs.

If we take steps to disconnect your supply:

  • Your contract with us allows us to access your property to disconnect your supply. You will receive at least 7 days' written notice.
  • We will explain how to get reconnected after disconnection. This will include you paying the bill in full, as well as any additional disconnection and reconnection charges.
